An upset Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng is said to be on a relentless pursuit to throw out PKR councillor Johari Kassim from Seberang Perai Municipal Council (MPSP).
 
Sources said he had directed the state secretary, Zainal Rahim Seman, to issue written instructions to the MPSP president, Mokhtar Mohd Jait, to bar Johari from attending any council meetings.
 
The matter is now under the purview of the state executive councillor in charge of local government affairs and traffic management and also DAP state chief Chow Kon Yeow.
 
It is learnt that Zainal may issue the written directive to Mokhtar within the next few days.
 
Lim, also the DAP secretary-general, is determined to “teach Johari a lesson” for openly defying his decision to appoint Mokhtar to head MPSP early this month,
 
The chief minister is unhappy that PKR had refused to heed to his call to sack Johari as councillor.
 
Johari (pic) and seven other PKR councillors have boycotted Mokhtar’s swearing-in on June 4 in protest against the state government decision to appoint senior public officers to helm local municipalities.
 
Who is the boss?
The DAP-dominated Pakatan Rakyat state government has also appointed senior civil servant Tan Cheng Chui as the new Penang Island Municipal Council (MPPP) president.
 
Apart from Johari, the others were Che Mat Hashim, Amir Ghazali, Mahamad Hashim, Rynu Shanmugam, Goh Choon Aik, Mohd Kamil Abu Bakar and Zaini Awang.
 
The boycott has inevitably caused Lim a bruised ego, and he wants to show Johari “who’s the boss”.
 
For record, Johari has attended several council meetings since the controversy erupted early this month.
 
Lim’s unprecedented move to deploy administrative rule to punish Johari, however, is set to meet tough resistance from the state PKR.
 
During a meeting among state PKR’s parliamentarians, legislators and councillors on Friday, it is learnt that the state party leadership had decided to adopt a tough stance not to yield to DAP leadership demand to force Johari to resign as councillor.
 
Those at the meeting, despite having difference of opinions and views over the political controversy, decided anonymously to throw their weight around the embattled Johari, the state PKR and Tasek Gelugor division committee member.
 
State leaders also decided to inform, in unequivocal terms, to Lim soon that the controversy shall be best resolved through the Pakatan state council leadership.

A source said PKR leadership thought that Lim was wrong in trying to use an administrative rule to resolve a political problem.
 
“The leadership thought it should be resolved through a political forum,” said the PKR source.
 
PKR leaders are determined to defend Johari merely because he had only defied a state decision to protect the party interest.
 
The state leadership has decided not to take any action on Johari during a meeting held the next day after the Johari’s MPSP boycott.
 
Although the matter was referred to the party national political bureau, headed by deputy president Syed Husin Ali, albeit under pressure from Lim, the bureau also emulated the state stand.
 
Meanwhile, a portal blogspot has emerged to carry out a character assassination campaign on Johari, PKR state chief Zahrain Hashim, secretary Mustafa Kamal Mohd Yusoff and several other leaders.
 
Quoting its source of information is from Malaysiakini, the bloggers are carrying out a campaign in similar modus operandi executed so effectively on former Deputy Chief Minister 1 Fairus Khairuddin.
 
PKR leadership is now checking on the bloggers, believed to be party members linked to a state executive councillor.
 
Zahrain is now under intense internal pressure to quickly identify and take drastic action, including party membership termination, on these anonymous bloggers.

In life we do often have to face the difficulty of making decisions when we arrived at a crossroad - turn kiri or kanan - and often we do not know what is the right path to move forward. The decision is often paradoxical and whichever way we chose could have its own consequences and after effects.

I too have reached such a point in my life and in the next few days I would need to make one....errrrr.

I will take a few days off next week and go for a holiday before I decide. ;p

Let everyone see a sea of black walking into an office, a market, a mosque, a temple, a church, a college, a park, a bus, a commuter or LRT car, a ferry or an aeroplane


Let us be united in one BLACK colour and let show the world that the 1Malaysia under Najib Razak is “1BLACKMalaysia” living in darkness.

Let’s show the world that Malaysians will stand up against any invasion of democracy, freedom and peace by unscrupulous politicians. We will not allow coup be the way to power in Perak, or anywhere in Malaysia. No one shall take away our democracy, freedom and peace. Former academician and PKR state deputy leader 58-year-old Mansor Othman will be the party candidate for the Penanti by-election next month.

This was announced by PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim to a crowd of more than 1,000 people packed into Yayasan Aman, Penanti last night.

In the aftermath of the March 2008 political tsunami Malaysians have gone back to the polls five times. In four elections they have voted overwhelmingly in favour of Pakatan Rakyat and in the fifth, but for the influence of money politics and electoral fraud, demonstrated a growing preference for change and for a new style of politics.

The message is clear. The Malaysian people are eager to turn the page on Umno-led BN rule. They have embraced Pakatan Rakyat’s message of unity and are inspired by our commitment to eradicating corruption and addressing the needs of the poor and marginalized, particularly among the Malays and bumiputeras of Sabah and Sarawak.

I am pleased to announce KEADILAN’s candidate for the May 31st by election for the State seat of Penanti in Penang. En. Mansor bin Othman is KEADILAN’s Division Chief for Balik Pulau and Deputy State Chief of KEADILAN Penang. He has served on KEADILAN’s Supreme Council for over ten years and also served as the national Deputy Director of Elections. In addition, he served me honorably and with distinction as Political Secretary to the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia from 1996-1998.

Mansor has contributed immensely to the development of Penang and is ready to serve the people of Penanti from day one in office.

He earned a masters degree from USM and a Masters in Arts and a Masters of Philosophy from Yale University. He was an associate professor at USM and was also the Director of the Center for Policy Research.

Having served in the Committee for Community Education and the Committee for Youth Development Programs, he has contributed to improving both education and youth programs in Penang. As an Exco member of PEMADAM Penang, he worked tirelessly to raise awareness about drug abuse and the prevention of drug addiction. Mansor was also actively involved in the development of bumiputera entrepreneurs, notably through his role with TEKUN, a program designed to improve skills of businessmen in small and medium enterprises by providing them with microcredit facilities.

Bekas timbalan ketua menteri 1 Pulau Pinang, Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin hari ini mengumumkan keputusannya meletak jawatan ADUN Penanti, berkuatkuasa hari ini.

Katanya, keputusan itu dibuat untuk membolehkan beliau memberi tumpuan penuh terhadap usaha bagi melanjutkan pelajaran ke peringkat siswazah lanjutan.

Ia juga, katanya, untuk memberi masa kepadanya untuk bersama-sama dengan keluarga "yang selama ini terpaksa berkorban dalam memenuhi tugasan saya".

"Ruang ini juga akan saya manfaatkan untuk menumpukan usaha bagi membersihkan nama baik saya dari segala tohmahan yang dilemparkan terhadap saya selama ini," tambahnya.

Fairus yang sedang disiasat oleh Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM), berhubung satu projek kuari di Pulau Pinang, meletakkan jawatan timbalan ketua menteri pada 8 April lalu.

Berikutan peletakan jawatannya itu, pilihanraya kecil perlu diadakan bagi kerus tersebut dalam tempoh 60 hari.

DUN Penanti terletak dalam kawasan parlimen Permatang Pauh yang diwakili oleh Ketua Umum PKR, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
